The YouTube platform is not only for uploading and watching music videos, vlogs and other content. Many companies also perceive it as one of the channels for promoting their products or services. Along with the growing number of various video reviews on this network, Google decided to supplement YouTube with the possibility of a more convenient and faster purchase.

Bloomberg reported late last week that YouTube is testing new tools for creators. These should allow channel owners to mark selected products directly in the videos and redirect viewers to the option of purchasing them. At the same time, YouTube will give creators the ability to watch and connect with buying and analytics tools. The YouTube platform is also testing an integration with Shopify, among other things - this collaboration could theoretically allow the sale of goods directly through the YouTube site. According to YouTube, creators will have full control over what products appear in their videos.

Videos of performers unboxing, trying on and evaluating various goods are quite popular on YouTube. The introduction of an easier purchase option is therefore quite a logical step on the part of Google. At the moment, however, the whole thing is in the experimental stage, and it is not yet clear how the mentioned function will look like in practice, or when and if it will be available to viewers at all. However, if this option is put into practice, it is possible that YouTube Premium subscribers will be the first to see it. According to Bloomberg, YouTube could also introduce a virtual catalog of goods that users could view and possibly buy directly from it. There is also a certain percentage of the profit commission for YouTube, this one informace but it also has no concrete outlines yet. YouTube reported $3,81 billion in ad revenue in the second quarter of this year, according to Alphabet's financial results.
