Gamers are currently eagerly awaiting the arrival of next generation consoles. Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S mean a breath of fresh air in the gaming world and for many, one of the few bright spots of this year. But it seems that in addition to established gaming machines, the attention of some players is turning towards common household appliances - for example, refrigerators. On the smart refrigerator of the Samsung Family Hub series, the creator, appearing on Instagram under the nickname vapingtwisted420, launched the shooter Doom Eternal, released this year.

Taking into account all the technologies used, there is not much to be surprised about after the initial confusion. Samsung's smart refrigerators run on the Tizen operating system, known for example from the Korean company's televisions. It runs in the same way as Linux or MacOS on a Unix core, from which almost any applications can be launched. In this case, the programmer used the game streaming service xCloud, where Doom Eternal is available for free. Although Samsung does not yet pack free gamepads with its refrigerators, the computer handyman cleverly connected an Xbox controller to the refrigerator.

Running the shooter on the fridge brings to mind the series of absurd successes of playing the very first Doom from 1994 on various devices. Over the past months, various fans have launched the ancient shooter on, for example, a pregnancy test or a printer. Compared to such pieces, Doom Eternal running on a refrigerator screen feels like an amateur piece.
