Huawei has "posted" an official render on the Chinese social network Weibo, which reveals the unique photo module of one of the models of the upcoming Mate 40 flagship series. The uniqueness lies in the fact that it has the shape of a hexagon, which no manufacturer has come up with so far.

The render shows that the module will occupy a large part of the top third of the phone. This is a radical change from unofficial renders that showed the Mate 40 with a large circular module. It is not possible to read from the picture what the arrangement of the sensors will be or how many of them there will be in the module. (Anyway, anecdotal reports say the Mate 40 will have a triple camera and the Mate 40 Pro a quad.)

According to unofficial reports, the basic model will get a curved OLED display with a diagonal of 6,4 inches and a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a new Kirin 9000 chipset, up to 8 GB of RAM, a 108MPx main camera, a battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh and support for fast charging with power 66 W and a Pro model with a 6,7-inch waterfall display, up to 12 GB of RAM and the same battery capacity. Both are also rumored to be the first to run on Huawei's new proprietary HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system.

The Chinese smartphone giant already confirmed a few days ago that it will launch the new series on October 22.
