Last week, respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported to ITHome that Huawei is considering selling its Honor division. The company immediately denied this on the Weibo social network, and the message was even pulled from the website. But now Reuters has written that Huawei is in talks with a company called Digital China to sell part of Honor's smartphone business. The value of the "deal" could be between 15-25 billion yuan (converted between 51-86 billion CZK).

Digital China is said to be not the only one interested in buying the brand, others should be TCL, which currently manufactures Alcatel brand devices, and the smartphone giant Xiaomi, which is one of Huawei's main competitors in many markets around the world. It is said that the first mentioned company showed the most serious interest.

Why Huawei might want Honor or part of it, to sell, is obvious - under the new owner, the brand would not be subject to the trade sanctions of the US government, which have been affecting the business of the technology giant for some time.

Founded in 2013, Honor originally operated as a smartphone sub-brand within Huawei's portfolio, targeting young customers in particular. It later became independent and, in addition to smartphones, now also offers smart watches, headphones or laptops.
