Samsung is working on a chipset called Exynos 9925, which will feature a high-performance GPU from AMD. This should help it compete with high-end chips from Qualcomm. The information came from the well-known leaker Ice Universe.

Last year, Samsung entered into a multi-year deal with AMD to gain access to its advanced RNDA graphics architecture. This will allow the South Korean tech giant to replace the current Mali graphics chips with more powerful solutions.

At the moment, it is not known when the Exynos 9925 could be introduced, but it is speculated that the first GPU from AMD will appear in chips from Samsung in 2022. This would mean that Samsung will not introduce the new chipset until the second half of next year year.

Samsung is also trying to improve the performance of its chips in the processor part - it replaced the Mongoose processor cores with high-performance ARM cores. That this move has paid off is evidenced by the score of its new Exynos 1080 mid-range chip in the popular AnTuTu benchmark, where it scored nearly 700 points, beating devices powered by Qualcomm's current top-of-the-line Snapdragon 000 and 865+ chips.

The tech giant is also working on a flagship Exynos 2100 chip that will be used by its upcoming flagship phones Galaxy S21 (S30). It will reportedly be more powerful than the upcoming Snapdragon 875 (in terms of graphics performance, however, it should lag behind by roughly 10% – it will still use the Mali graphics chip, namely the Mali-G78).
