Press Release: The small police stations of the future do not require officers to be physically present. Thanks to this, there can be more of them directly in the field. With the help of modern technologies, police reports and other procedures can easily and fully take place even remotely from the police contact point under the guidance of a police officer who sits in another city. Three police contact points, so-called Pol Points, in the Central Bohemia region are already operating in this way in pilot operation. It was created thanks to a joint project of the Police of the Czech Republic and the companies ALEF, AV MEDIA and Cisco.

Pol Point Police

Comfortable contact points are in brick buildings behind closed doors, next to which there is a screen, camera, bell, microphone and speaker. Through them, the first contact with a remote police officer will take place, who after a short introductory interview will let the person into a modernly equipped room. It includes a Cisco communication device consisting of a high-quality screen and a camera. There is also a chair with a table in the room, from where the citizen communicates with the policeman who sits in the remote control room.

"Pol Points are fully equipped with proven Cisco technology, which is used by large successful companies around the world, as well as by state administrations and other organizations for which reliable and high-quality remote communication with great sound and image is essential on a daily basis," says Vojtěch Přikryl, Business Development Manager, Unified Communications from ALEF. It delivers complete communication solutions and has more than 20 years of experience with them. Viktor Gyönyör, Senior Sales Consultant from AV MEDIA adds: “These technologies can speed up, simplify and, ultimately, make communication between many authorities and citizens throughout the country cheaper."

A citizen can easily and quickly submit any notification from the contact point. Or, for example, an interrogation can take place here. There are currently three contact points in operation, in Karlštejn, in Lisá nad Labem and at the municipal office in Přerov nad Labem.

How Pol Point works:

"We are able to effectively record the resignation and continue to work with it. You don't have to sign anything, we only work with the recording. It creates space for us in the given localities for police officers who do not have to wait on duty, but can be useful in the field", says Brigadier General Václav Kučera, Director of the Central Bohemian Region Police Regional Directorate.

"We meet here with people who come to us to report various criminal activities, but some just want to get information, get advice," adds First Ensign Jitka Poštulková, a police officer from the Central Bohemian Region who works remotely and helps citizens in the new contact points, adds to the experience from the first weeks of operation.

Pol Points are the first demonstration that citizens can fully communicate with state administration bodies contactlessly, safely, easily, quickly and essentially from anywhere. The involvement of interpreters from foreign languages as well as sign language interpreters is currently being prepared for Pol Points. "We are creating a system so that, for example, at the request of the interrogated person, we can connect the relevant interpreter online and conduct the interrogation at the given location," Václav Kučera, director of the regional police directorate of the Central Bohemian Region, reveals other upcoming plans.
