Robocalls are a big problem, especially in the US. Last year alone, 58 billion were recorded here. In response, Samsung came up with a feature called Smart Call, which protects users from "robo-calls" and allows them to report them. However, this issue doesn't seem to be going away any time soon, so the tech giant is further improving the feature and is now rolling out to the latest flagship phones Galaxy Note 20. Later, it should also be available on older flagship series.

Samsung developed the feature in collaboration with Seattle-based Hiya, which offers caller profiling services to individuals and businesses. The two companies have been linked by a strategic partnership for several years, which has now been extended until 2025. In order to protect users from robocalls and spam calls, Hiya analyzes over 3,5 billion calls per month.

The company's technology - real-time call detection and cloud infrastructure - will now be used to block such calls on phones Galaxy Note 20 a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Samsung claims that this technology makes its device among the most protected smartphones against robocalls and spam calls. The new and improved function will later also come to older flagships, and from next year all new smartphones of the technological giant should also have it.

The expanded partnership also includes the Hiya Connect service, which is intended for legitimate businesses that want to be able to reach Samsung customers by phone. Through the Branded Call feature, they will be able to provide customers with their name, logo and reason for calling.
