Foldable smartphones are slowly but surely becoming commonplace. In addition to folding phones, roll-up phones are also appearing - in this context, for example, it is rumored that Samsung should introduce its first smartphone of this type as early as next year. But it will definitely not be a pioneer in this direction - a functional prototype of a scrolling smartphone has already appeared, which, however, comes from the workshop of a not very well-known manufacturer. A video of the mentioned smartphone can be found on YouTube.

The company responsible for this prototype is TLC - a manufacturer that is better known for its televisions. It is a Chinese company that, among other things, also produces smartphones, but they are not as well-known as Samsung, Huawei or Xiaomi smartphones.

Anyway, it's interesting to see how even a relatively unknown brand is able to produce an original and unusual smartphone model, and it's an undeniably bold move on TLC's part. TLC's roll-up phone display was made in collaboration with China Star. Its diagonal is 4,5 inches when "shortened" and 6,7 inches when unfolded. The YouTube video is definitely worth a look, but it's not very clear when - if at all - this model should go into mass production.

As far as foldable smartphones are concerned, manufacturers already have a more or less clear idea of which direction to go in this area, what is better to avoid, and what, on the contrary, is good to focus on as much as possible. However, the field of rollable smartphones is still largely unexplored, and not only manufacturers, but also consumers themselves need to get used to them. Due to their construction, their production is quite demanding and expensive, so it can be assumed that the price of smartphones of this type will be high.
