A few months ago, Samsung announced that it was ending software support for popular phones Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. But now something happened that no one expected. Both models unexpectedly receive another system update, even though almost five years have passed since their launch.

On former flagships of the South Korean technology giant Galaxy S7 to Galaxy The S7 Edge has started getting notifications for the new security update, at least in Canada and the UK, but other countries are sure to follow. The September update is less than 70 MB, and in addition to device security, it would also include stability improvements, bug fixes, and performance enhancements.

It is definitely a pleasant surprise that the South Korean company decided to update such "old" phones, despite the previous end of support for these models. The only logical explanation why Samsung took this step is that there must have been a serious threat from which the South Korean technology giant wants to protect its customers.

If the update is not offered to you by itself, you can check its availability in Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

Regarding system updates Android, for a long time Samsung only guaranteed system updates for its phones for two years, until this year, probably under pressure from customers, it changed its habit and will offer three versions of the operating system for its flagships Android.
