Samsung has announced via the Chinese social network Weibo when it will officially launch its new Exynos 1080 chip, which has been rumored for some time and whose existence it itself confirmed a few weeks ago. It will happen on November 12 in Shanghai.

As you know from our previous articles, the Exynos 1080 won't be a flagship chipset, so it won't be the one powering the lineup Galaxy S21 (S30). The Vivo X60 mid-range phones should be built on it first.

A few weeks ago, Samsung confirmed that its first chip produced by the 5nm process will be equipped with the company's latest ARM Cortex-A78 processor and the new Mali-G78 graphics chip. According to the manufacturer, Cortex-A78 is 20% faster than its predecessor Cortex-A77. It will also have a built-in 5G modem.

The first benchmark results indicate that the performance of the chipset will be more than promising. It scored 693 points in the popular AnTuTu benchmark, beating Qualcomm's current flagship chips Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 865+.

The Exynos 1080 is widely believed to be the successor to the Exynos 980 chip that the South Korean tech giant launched late last year for mid-range smartphones with support for 5G networks. It is specifically used by telephones Galaxy A51 5G, Galaxy A71 5G, Vivo S6 5G and Vivo X30 Pro.
