Malware dubbed Joker has reappeared in the Google Play Store, this time infecting 17 apps. It is the last few months that the Google team has come across this dangerous spyware. Zscaler's security expert drew attention to the problematic applications.

Specifically, the following applications are infected by Joker: All Good PDF Scanner, Mint Leaf Message-Your Private Message, Unique Keyboard – Fancy Fonts and Free Emoticons, Tangram App Lock, Direct Messenger, Private SMS, One Sentence Translator – Multifunctional Translator, Style Photo Collage, Meticulous Scanner, Desire Translate, Talent Photo Editor – Blur focus, Care Message, Part Message, Paper Doc Scanner, Blue Scanner, Hummingbird PDF Converter - Photo to PDF and All Good PDF Scanner. At the time of writing, these apps have already been pulled from Google Play, but if you have them installed, delete them immediately.

Google has had to deal with this malware for the third time in recent months – it removed six infected applications from the store in early October and discovered eleven of them in July. According to security experts, Joker has been active on the scene since March, and during that time he managed to infect millions of devices.

Joker, which belongs to the category of spyware, is designed to steal SMS messages, contacts and informace about the device and the user signed up for premium (i.e. paid) WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) services without their knowledge.
