The popular Chinese brand OnePlus enjoyed significant fan support until recently. As one of the few, it was able to provide continuous updates and with new ones Androidem usually rushed in as one of the first, and that's because of the knowledge of cheaper models, which were quite far from the flagship ones. In addition, for a low price tag, the manufacturer offered affordable smartphones with excellent performance that matched much more expensive pieces and managed to pleasantly surprise. However, the situation has been slowly turning around recently, especially for the better Samsung. For years, the latter has been seen as a company that doesn't bother much with updates and often cuts off support before it's needed. However, the South Korean giant made light of this fact as well.

Specifically, at this year's Samsung Unpacked, the manufacturer announced a new initiative that aims to revitalize even older models and offer users proper support that will last at least 3 years, guaranteed of course. Although it is so with the release of new updates for One UI Slightly slower than the competition, Samsung cares about software testing and debugging, which is reflected not only in the user experience, but also in the tendency of customers to reach for a Samsung phone again. After all, China's OnePlus is now only guaranteeing one major update and only offers a switch to Android 11. Owners of ordinary, non-flagship models are simply out of luck and are forced to upgrade. In the case of the South Korean company, however, the initiative ensures not only long-term support, but also an effort to keep older phones running with new security packages and updates. This is definitely a welcome move, and one can only hope that Samsung sticks with it. After all, so far the company is keeping its word.
