Samsung has launched two new monitors, Smart Monitor M5 and Smart Monitor M7, which can also serve as smart TVs, as they are powered by the Tizen operating system. They will first be available in the US, Canada and China, before reaching some other markets.

The M5 model got a display with Full HD resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio and will be offered in 27- and 32-inch versions. The M7 model has a screen with 4K resolution and the same aspect ratio as its sibling, a maximum brightness of 250 nits, a viewing angle of 178° and support for the HDR10 standard. Both monitors are also equipped with 10 W stereo speakers.

Since both run on the Tizen 5.5 operating system, they can run smart TV apps like Apple TV, Disney+, Netflix or YouTube. In terms of connectivity, the monitors support dual-band Wi-Fi 5, the AirPlay 2 protocol, the Bluetooth 4.2 standard and have two HDMI ports and at least two USB Type A ports. The M7 model also has a USB-C port that can charge connected devices with up to 65 W and transmit video signals.

Both models also received a remote control, which can be used to launch applications and navigate the user interface. Other new features include Bixby voice assistant, Screen Mirroring, wireless DeX and Remote Access. The latter feature allows users to remotely access the contents of their PC. They can also run "Microsoft" Office 365 applications without the need to use a computer and create, edit and save documents directly in the cloud.

The M5 will be available in a few weeks and will retail for $230 (27-inch version) and $280 (32-inch variant). The M7 model will go on sale in early December and will cost $400.
