Samsung has been doing very well in the smartphone segment in recent months despite the coronavirus pandemic. After it was revealed that its share of the domestic market in the third quarter reached an all-time high, a report from IDC has now hit the airwaves, according to which the tech giant also dominated the market referred to as EMEA (which includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa) in the penultimate quarter. Its share here was 31,8%.

The second place was taken by Xiaomi with a share of 14,4% (however, it recorded the biggest growth from year to year - by almost 122%), the third place was occupied by the virtually unknown Chinese brand Transsion with a share of 13,4%, the fourth place finished Apple, whose share was 12,7%, and the top five is rounded off by Huawei with a share of 11,7% (on the other hand, it lost the most year-on-year, its share fell by almost 38%).

If we take only Europe separately, Samsung's share was even more dominant there – it reached 37,1%. The second Xiaomi lost exactly 19 percentage points to it. Huawei lost the most on the old continent – ​​its share was 12,4%, which represents a year-on-year decrease of almost half.

In terms of actual shipments, Samsung shipped 29,6 million smartphones, Xiaomi 13,4 million, Transsion 12,4 million, Apple 11,8 million and Huawei 10,8 million. Overall, the EMEA market shipped 93,1 million smartphones during the period (Europe accounted for the largest share at 53,2 million), 2,1% more than the same period last year, and were valued at $27,7 billion (approx. 607,5 crowns).
