Samsung, like many other major technology companies, often has to deal with so-called patent trolls. They often file bizarre lawsuits against it due to various patents, which is an unpleasant and unnecessary complication for the company. However, the management of the South Korean giant recently ran out of patience and decided to take action.

Some South Korean media reported this week about the new strategy that Samsung intends to resort to in the fight against patent trolls. According to their reports, Samsung is preparing to take significantly more aggressive legal action, particularly in court proceedings against Longhorn IP and Trechant Blade Technologies. The lawsuit, which began late last week in a court in the Northern District of California, also involves Samsung's patent claims. According to some experts, a number of precedents could be set in this process, which would make it much more difficult for patent trolls in the future. With its new strategy, Samsung also wants to send a clear message to all patent trolls that they will definitely not be treated with gloves in the future.

So-called patent trolls are most often companies that do not produce any hardware or software themselves. Their source of income tends to be compensation and financial compensation that they lure away from successful large companies due to patent infringement. One of the most famous patent trolls is, for example, a company that once managed to sue Samsung for more than fifteen million dollars due to alleged infringement of a patent related to Bluetooth technology.
