In the third quarter, Samsung replaced Huawei at the head of the Russian smartphone market. The Chinese smartphone giant held the top spot in recent quarters, but a number of factors, including a weakening supply chain caused by US government sanctions, have now turned the tide in favor of the South Korean tech giant. This was reported by Counterpoint Research.

Although Huawei had a higher market share in online sales compared to Samsung in the third quarter (27,8% versus 26,3%; the South Korean giant was surpassed in this regard by Xiaomi with 27%), but Samsung was able to compensate for this with strong offline sales.

According to the latest report from Counterpoint Research, the two most popular Samsung smartphones in Russia in the penultimate quarter were models Galaxy A51 a Galaxy A31, which is not too surprising since the first mentioned is one of the most successful phones this year Galaxy in many other markets.

The report also mentions that flagship models (especially Samsung and Apple) are getting more attention in Russia – thanks in part to bargain sales. It is also worth noting that smartphone sales in the local market increased by 5% year-on-year, (online sales even more than doubled; their share is now 34%), that the average price of smartphones decreased by 5% year-on-year to $224 ( roughly 4 crowns) or that Samsung's rivals from China are increasingly asserting themselves in the lower and middle class segments.
