IDC released its analysis of wearable device shipments for the third quarter. It says global shipments reached 125 million, up 35% year-on-year.

Market leader with "wearables' remains Apple, whose share in the third quarter was 33,1%, in second place was Xiaomi with 13,6 percent, third Huawei with 11 percent, fourth position belongs to Samsung, which loses two percentage points to Huawei, and the top five largest manufacturers of this segment close Fitbit with a 2,6% share.

Except for Fitbit, whose share fell by 6,2% year-on-year, all the named brands showed growth, the largest – by 87,2% – then Huawei. However, the biggest growth of all is India's BoAt, which according to IDC is now tied for 5th place in the market with Fitbit, and which has increased its share by just under 317% year-over-year (this may seem like extreme growth, but you have to take considering that the company grew from a very low base of 0,8%).

As for the deliveries themselves, Apple shipped 41,4 million wearable devices to the global market, Xiaomi 17 million, Huawei 13,7 million, Samsung 11,2 million and Fitbit with India's "jumper of the year" 3,3 million.

According to IDC analysts, its wireless headphones AirPods and smart watches contributed the most to the aforementioned market share of the market leader, i.e. Apple Apple Watch (including a new, affordable model Apple Watch SE), while the second Xiaomi made up the largest share of deliveries of basic fitness bracelets.
