With millions of people forced to work and learn from home during the coronavirus pandemic, demand for monitors soared in the third quarter of this year. Samsung also reports growth – in the period in question it sold 3,37 million computer monitors, which is a year-on-year increase of 52,8%.
Samsung of all brands recorded the highest year-on-year growth, its market share increased from 6,8 to 9% and was the fifth largest manufacturer of computer monitors in the world.
The market leader remained Dell, which shipped 6,36 million monitors in the penultimate quarter, with a market share of 16,9%, followed by TPV with 5,68 million monitors sold, with a share of 15,1%, and Lenovo in fourth place , which delivered 3,97 million monitors to stores and took a 10,6% share.
Total monitor shipments during the period were 37,53 million, up nearly 16% year-over-year.09
The South Korean tech giant recently launched a new monitor called smart monitor, which is designed specifically for working from home. It comes in two variants – M5 and M7 – and uses the Tizen operating system, which allows it to run media streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and Prime Video. It also received support for HDR10+ standards and Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or a USB-C port.
