This year's restriction of teaching in schools and its transfer to online form as a result of the coronavirus epidemic increases the interest of Czechs in purchasing computer technology. On shopping advisor and comparator Zboží.cz in a year-on-year comparison, searches for this type of product increased by as much as 95%*. People are looking for computer technology more often also on Sbazar.cz.
Interest in computers has doubled this year compared to the previous year. Tablets on Zboží.cz showed a growth of 46%. "Many parents did not have households equipped with computers or tablets so that their children could handle online learning without any problems. We have observed increased interest on Zboží.cz for this type of product throughout this year. Although shopping behavior is now influenced by the Christmas season, it is certain that people will find laptops under the tree more often this year." he says Jan Kriegel, manager of shopping advisor Zboží.cz. According to him, there is also increased interest this season in tablets, smartphones, smart watches and fitness bracelets.
People also buy second-hand laptops more often
Buying second-hand computers is also changing significantly this year. In categories Computers a Tablets na Sbazar.cz the number of new advertisements has been increasing in recent months**. In the section Computers this fall, there are always 9% more new ads on average than during the holiday months. In the category Tablets advertisements increase by 15%. "Many people have stopped being afraid of buying second-hand technology. They were driven to do so by the need to equip their children for education, even though they would not be able to afford a new laptop for financial reasons, or would postpone its purchase until later." judge Pavel Kolář, manager of the product team of the Services division seznam.cz.
