As you may know, most of the OLED displays used by the iPhone 12 are supplied to Apple by Samsung, or rather its subsidiary Samsung Display. One quarter was reportedly supplied by LG, but the supply chain should look different this year. According to a new report from South Korean media, the two most expensive iPhone 13 models will boast LTPO OLED technology exclusively supplied by the tech giant's subsidiary.

Sources of the Korean website The Elec, which brought the information, say that Apple will launch a total of four iPhone 13 models this year, two of which will feature LTPO OLED panels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. LG Display is said to remain Apple's supplier, but given that the company is not yet able to "spew out" a sufficient number of high-quality LTPO OLED panels, the Cupertino technology giant will rely exclusively on Samsung for its two most powerful models.

Apparently, LG will not be able to supply Apple with its LTPO OLED displays before next year, but Samsung Display is already planning to increase the production capacity of LTPO OLED panels in anticipation of the new iPhone series. According to the website, it could convert part of its A3 production line in Asan to LTPO production. The line is now said to be capable of producing 105 display sheets per month, but the company could change it to produce 000 LTPO OLED display sheets per month.

LG can currently produce only 5 sheets of LTPO OLED panels per month at its factory in Paju, however, it plans to install additional equipment there by next year to increase the production capacity to 000 sheets per month.
