CES is a place where consumer electronics manufacturers can introduce even less traditional products and show how their technology could change our lives for the better. And that's exactly what Samsung did when it unveiled a home robot powered by artificial intelligence at this year's event.

The robot, named Samsung Bot Handy, is much taller than the previous AI robots that Samsung has shown to the public so far. However, thanks to this, he can much better handle objects of different shapes, sizes and weights. In Samsung's words, the robot is "an extension of your self in the kitchen, living room, and anywhere else in your home where you might need an extra hand." Samsung Bot Handy should, for example, be able to wash dishes, laundry, but also pour wine.

The South Korean tech giant claims the robot can tell the difference between the material composition of different objects and determine the appropriate amount of force to use when grasping and moving them. He can also stretch vertically to reach higher places. Otherwise, it has a relatively slim body and is equipped with rotating arms with a large number of joints.

Samsung did not reveal when it plans to put the robot on sale or its price. He just said that it's still in development, so we'll have to wait a while for it to start helping us at home.
