MediaTek should introduce its new chipset in January. Now it has penetrated the ether informace, that it will be called the Dimensity 1200 and that it should be faster than the Snapdragon 865 chip.

At this point, it's unclear if this is the same chipset that the various leaks are referring to as MT6893 and which appeared in the AnTuTu benchmark a few weeks ago. But there are many indications of this - according to the new leak, the chipset will have four Cortex-A78 processor cores, one of which is said to be clocked at a frequency of 3 GHz and the others at 2,6 GHz, and four economical Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 2 GHz, which are exactly the same specifications that the leaks mention for the MT6893 chip. Another indication is the score this chipset achieved in the aforementioned AnTuTu. In the popular benchmark, it actually beat the Snapdragon 865 (albeit by a small margin).

Anyway, the new leak also claims that the Dimensity 1200 will feature a better 5G modem (over MediaTek's current flagship Dimensity 1000+ chip) and that it will have an improved image processor that should help the phones take better photos than its predecessor. However, the details are not known at this time.

The new chip should appear soon after the announcement in smartphones from manufacturers such as Vivo, Oppo or Realme, and it is not excluded that it will also power some Honor and Huawei models.
