Speculations from the past few days have been confirmed - Samsung presented a smart locator at today's Unpacked event Galaxy SmartTag. Inspired by some of Tile's locators, the pendant will help users conveniently find lost items using a smartphone app.

Galaxy The SmartTag uses Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) technology and is designed to work with Samsung's SmartThings Find platform, which Samsung launched last October and which allows users to locate their devices Galaxy through the SmartThings app. According to Samsung, the pendant can locate lost objects at a distance of up to 120 m. If the "o-tagged" object is nearby and the user can't find it, they will be able to tap a button on the smartphone and the object will "ring".

In addition, it can also be used to control smart home devices, for example to turn on the lights. Thanks to its size, users can conveniently place it on a wallet, keys, backpack, suitcase or even a pet's collar. It uses end-to-end encryption for secure communication, and its battery will last several months of use, according to Samsung.

It will be available in black and beige and will be sold for 799 crowns. It's not known at this point when it will go on sale (it will be late January in the US though, so it could be February here).
