Samsung's new flagship smartphones Galaxy S21 they bring various improvements over their predecessors, however over the range Galaxy S20 they also lack some important features, including a microSD card slot, a bundled charger, and 45W fast charging support. The new phones also lack the important function of the Samsung Pay payment service compared to last year.

Samsung has confirmed that its new lineup does not support MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) for contactless mobile payments via Samsung Pay, at least in the US. It is not clear at this time if the feature is unavailable in other markets as well, but it is to be expected.

The tech giant also hinted that its future smartphones won't have the feature either, due to the rapid proliferation of devices supporting payments via NFC technology, which has been the biggest contributor to the coronavirus pandemic.

The feature mimics the magnetic stripe of a credit or debit card when placed next to a Point of Sale (PoS) device, tricking them into thinking the user has just used a payment card. It is especially widespread in developing countries, such as India, where NFC payments have not yet caught on.

It is important to note that the models of the series Galaxy The S21 will still be able to make mobile payments via Samsung Pay using NFC or QR codes.
