The latest gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft - PS5 and Xbox Series X - bring support for gaming in 4K resolution at 120 fps with HDR. However, at the end of last year, it became clear that Samsung's high-end smart TVs can't keep up with the first-named console, and users can't play simultaneously in 4K resolution with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR. However, Samsung has now announced on its forums that it has started to solve this problem with the Japanese technology giant.

Gaming in 4K resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and HDR on requires an HDMI 2.1 port, which Samsung's high-end smart TV models such as the Q90T, Q80T, Q70T and Q900R have. Even so, they are not able to process signals with this setting if they are connected to the PS5. At the same time, everything works without problems with the Xbox Series X. Only Samsung TVs seem to have this problem, other brand TVs with the latest Sony console work fine.

The South Korean tech giant's TVs have a problem with the PS5 due to the way the console transmits its HDR signal. A Samsung moderator on its European forums confirmed that the two companies are already working to remove it. It will most likely be resolved via a PS5 software update. Sony will probably release the update sometime in March, so owners of Samsung TVs will have to play games in 4K/60 Hz/HDR or 4K/120 Hz/SDR mode for some time.
