Samsung's division Samsung Display, which is one of the largest suppliers of OLED displays in the world, is preparing a new innovative product for laptops - it will be the world's first 90Hz OLED display. According to his words, he will start mass producing it already in the first quarter of this year.

The vast majority of laptop displays, whether LCD or OLED, have a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Then there are gaming laptops with absurdly high refresh rates (even 300 Hz; sold by e.g. Razer or Asus). However, these use IPS screens (i.e. a type of LCD display), not OLED panels.

As you know, OLED is a better technology than LCD, and even though there are many laptops with OLED displays on the market, their refresh rate is 60Hz. That's certainly enough for casual use, but certainly not enough for high FPS gaming. A 90Hz panel will therefore be a welcome addition.

The head of Samsung's display division, Joo Sun Choi, has hinted that the company is planning to produce a "significantly large number" of 14-inch 90Hz OLED displays starting in March this year. The daughter admitted that a high-end GPU would be needed to power the screen. Considering the current prices of graphics cards, we can expect that this display will not be exactly cheap.

The first laptops with a 90Hz OLED panel of the technological giant will probably arrive in the second quarter of the year.
