Press Release: TCL CSOT announced the launch of two breakthrough products at CES 2021. They are a 17-inch printed OLED rollable display and a 6,7-inch AMOLED rollable display. TCL CSOT is a subsidiary of TCL Technology and aims to bring innovation to the field of semiconductor displays.

The flexible 17-inch printed rollable OLED display is only 0,18 mm thick and is a unique example of technology for large flexible displays. Fully rollable, like a canvas, the portable display fits literally anywhere.

AMOLED Rollable Screen

The display uses TCL CSOT's own high-end ink-jet printing technology and delivers a 100% color gamut with significantly improved image quality. The display will find wide use in flexible TVs, curved and foldable monitors and transparent advertising displays.

These OLED RGB devices are manufactured with high precision using ink jet printing technology and without the use of a metal mask. The result is a price that is 20% lower than displays produced using traditional technology. This new technology is more suitable for large format displays and for mass production.

The portable rollable 6,7-inch AMOLED display redefines the standard smartphone format. With the rollable AMOLED display, the phone can be enlarged from 6,7 inches to 7,8 inches with just the touch of a finger, transforming into a tablet and bringing a whole new user experience thanks to an easy and adaptable user interface. The smartphone can thus be thinner than 10 mm, significantly thinner than a foldable smartphone.

Thanks to the improved solution of the flexible display, the winding radius is only 3 mm and is complemented by a special retractable mechanism. With a simple touch of a button, the originally rolled and hidden display can be extended and extended. The total display area will thus increase. The resistance of the ejection mechanism is up to 100 repetitions. The software interface can be set up for one-handed operation or for multitasking.

A report published by DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants) highlighted the huge potential in the display panel market. In the OLED Market Development Report, DSCC forecasts that the AMOLED market will grow from $2019 million to $2024 billion from 951 to 2,69 at a compound annual rate of 23%. In another message2, on foldable and rollable display technologies and supplies, DSCC forecasts 2020% CAGR growth from 2025 to 80, with sales reaching $105 billion.

TCL CSOT focuses on mini-LED, micro-LED and OLED/QLED technologies. The product portfolio includes large, small and medium-sized display panels and touch modules, interactive whiteboards, video walls, displays for the automotive industry and gaming monitors. Due to this, it creates significant benefits in the global display panel market. In eleven years, TCL CSOT has become one of the key players in the development of semiconductor display technologies.

In the future, TCL CSOT will significantly participate in new applications for display technologies. The company will strengthen its cooperation within the entire commercial production and sales chain in this industry, and will focus on micro-systems for display panels, on new materials and key components. TCL CSOT will become part of the emerging semiconductor display industry ecosystem.
