It penetrated the ether informace, that Google in the next version Androidu - so Androidu 12 – reverts a useful feature that should have been present already in the current version. The developers of the American technology giant are said to call it Columbus.

Underneath this designation is the ability to perform various actions by double-tapping the back of the phone - similar to when a double-tap wakes up the display. By default, a double tap on the back was supposed to invoke the smart Google Assistant, but it was supposed to be possible to assign almost any other action to it, such as turning on the alarm, launching the camera, stopping video playback or muting the sound when answering a call.

V Androidwith 12, it is said that it will be possible to double-tap only some actions, such as the already mentioned activation of the voice assistant, typing images, pausing and restarting a video or opening notifications or application menus in the background.

To prevent accidental touches or other actions that could be interpreted as a double tap, the user will need to register this "gesture" first. The function will also be possible in the settings Androidu turn it off completely.

Android 12 should also bring easier transfer of Wi-Fi passwords, a hibernation mode for apps (to save memory) or a redesigned split-screen multitasking mode (in this mode it will be possible to display two – and sometimes more – apps at once and use them simultaneously, which will come in handy especially for users with large screens). The first developer preview of the new version should arrive in February, with a sharp version likely to be presented at Google's annual developer conference Google I/O in the second quarter of this year.
