Samsung is reportedly working on at least two models smart watch, which he will present at his next Unpacked event. Now, reports have hit the airwaves that at least one model will feature a sensor capable of monitoring the user's blood sugar levels, which would be extremely useful for diabetics.

According to the sources of these reports, the watch model that will offer the new health sensor could arrive in the market as Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch Active 3.

Generally speaking, series models Galaxy Watch a Watch The Actives are almost identical, the only difference being that the watches of the second mentioned series use a physical rotating bezel, while the watches of the first use a virtual (touch) bezel.

While it's unclear at this point how exactly the sensor might work, judging by past events, it could use a technique known as Raman spectroscopy. Exactly one year ago, the Samsung Electronics division and the research institution of the technological giant Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced the development of a non-invasive method of monitoring glucose levels that uses the mentioned technique.

In layman's terms, a sensor based on Raman spectroscopy uses lasers to identify chemical composition. In practice, this technology should enable accurate blood sugar measurement without the need to prick the patient's finger.

The next Samsung Unpacked event should take place in the summer.
