Have you ever thought about how many internet users there actually are in the whole world? We will tell you - as of January of this year, there were already 4,66 billion people, i.e. roughly three fifths of humanity. The Digital 2021 report released by the company operating the social media management platform Hootsuite came with information that may be surprising to some.

Additionally, the company's report states that the number of people using social media has reached 4,2 billion as of today. This number has increased by 490 million in the last twelve months and is an increase of more than 13% year-on-year. Last year, an average of 1,3 million new users joined social media every day.

The average social media user spends 2 hours and 25 minutes on them every day. Filipinos are the biggest consumers of social platforms, spending an average of 4 hours and 15 minutes on them every day. That is half an hour more than the other Colombians. On the contrary, the Japanese are the least fond of social networks, spending an average of only 51 minutes on them every day. Even so, this is a year-on-year increase of 13%.

And how much time do you spend daily on the Internet and social networks? Are you more "Filipino" or "Japanese" in this regard? Let us know in the comments below the article.
