Samsung has recently been investing heavily in its semiconductor business to better compete with the world's largest chipmaker, TSMC, and if possible overtake it in the coming years. TSMC is currently unable to meet the extremely high demand, so tech companies are increasingly turning towards Samsung. The processor giant AMD is said to be in a similar situation, and according to reports from South Korea, it is considering having its processors and graphics chips produced by the South Korean technology giant.

TSMC's production hubs are currently barely able to "spin". He remains her biggest client Apple, who allegedly booked almost the entire capacity of 5nm lines with her in the summer of last year. It's supposed, that Apple it will also "grab" for itself the considerable capacity of its 3nm process.

TSMC now handles all of AMD's products, including Ryzen processors and APUs, Radeon graphics cards, and chips for game consoles and data centers. In a situation where TSMC's lines cannot meet the high demand, AMD needs to secure additional production capacity so that it does not have to face a possible disruption in the supply of its high-demand products. Now, according to South Korean media, it is considering having the majority of processors, APU chips and GPUs manufactured in Samsung factories. If that were indeed the case, AMD could be the first company to use Samsung's 3nm process.

The two tech giants are already working together, on graphics chip, which will be used by future Exynos chipsets.
