Samsung was the 2nd largest smartphone brand in India in the last quarter of last year. It delivered 9,2 million phones to the local market, which represents year-on-year growth of 13%. Its market share was 21%.

Compared to others, the Indian smartphone market is specific in that it is almost completely dominated by Chinese brands. The first in the ranking has been Xiaomi for a long time, which shipped 12 million smartphones in the last quarter, 7% more than in the same period last year, and had a share of 27%.

Vivo finished in third place with 7,7 million smartphones and a market share of 18%, Oppo in fourth place with 5,5 million smartphones and a share of 13%, and the top five is rounded out by Realme, which delivered 5,1 million smartphones to the market there and whose share was 12%. The largest year-on-year growth of the top five was recorded by Oppo, by 23%.

Total shipments in the period in question amounted to 43,9 million smartphones, which represents a year-on-year increase of 13%. It was then 144,7 million for the whole of last year, 2% less than in 2019. On the other hand, manufacturers managed to deliver 100 million phones to the Indian market for the first time in the second half of the year.

According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung secured the 2nd place in the Indian market mainly through the active promotion of online sales channels, which significantly increased the popularity of the series phones Galaxy A a Galaxy M.
