Xiaomi introduced a potentially revolutionary technology in wireless charging. It's called Mi Air Charge, and it's what it calls "remote charging technology" that can charge multiple smartphones across the room at once.

Xiaomi has hidden the technology in a charging station with a display, which has the form of a large white cube and which can wirelessly charge a smartphone with a power of 5 W. Inside the station, five phased antennas are hidden, which can precisely determine the position of the smartphone. This type of charging has nothing to do with the well-known Qi wireless standard - in order for a smartphone to use this "truly wireless" charging, it must be equipped with a miniaturized array of antennas to receive the millimeter-wavelength signal emitted by the station, as well as a circuit to convert the electromagnetic signal into electrical energy.

The Chinese tech giant claims that the station has a range of several meters and that the charging efficiency is not reduced by physical obstacles. According to him, devices other than smartphones, such as smart watches, fitness bracelets and other wearable electronics, will soon be compatible with Mi Air Charge technology. At this time, it is not known when the technology will be available or how much it will cost. It is not even guaranteed that it will eventually reach the market. What is certain, however, is that if so, not everyone will be able to afford it – at least initially.
