Samsung is really wasting no time and rolling out the February security patch to more devices – this time to the 2018 flagship phones Galaxy S9. It is currently available for download across all continents – at least partially.

Update for Galaxy The S9 carries firmware version G960FXXSEFUA1 and updates for Galaxy The S9 comes with firmware version G965FXXSEFUA1. Both should arrive on your phones soon, if they haven't already.

If you haven't received the new software upgrade notification yet, you can do a manual scan as always by opening the menu Settings, by selecting the option Software update and tapping the option Download and install.

Both smartphones will receive monthly security patches for at least another year. They should then switch to a quarterly cycle.

As we reported earlier this week, the latest security patch largely fixed vulnerabilities that allowed MITM attacks or a bug in the form of a bug in the service responsible for launching wallpapers that allowed DDoS attacks. Last but not least, the patch fixed an exploit in the Samsung Email application that allowed attackers to gain access to it and surreptitiously monitor communications between the client and the provider. None of these or other bugs have been labeled as "critically" dangerous by Samsung.
