We don't often report on mere speculation from the world of mobile gaming, but today we're going to make an exception. The news started spreading on the Internet that we could expect a mobile port of the extremely successful battle royale Apex Legends. Originally developed by Respawn Entertainment, the game is expected to appear on mobile devices through a port developed by none other than Chinese studio Tencent, which already has vast experience in the genre.

Tencent currently pretty much dominates the mobile shooter genre. The company is not only behind its crown jewel in the form of Player Unknown's Battleground, but also for Call of Duty Mobile, the development of which was put in charge by EA itself. So it is not inconceivable that the American company would trust him again with the Apex port. The battle royale genre is very popular on mobile phones. Additionally, with the recent departure of Fortnite from the official app stores, there is a niche in the market that mobile Apex would certainly be great to fill.

Apex Legends was released in 2019 and has been very popular ever since. The game, in which you can choose from a number of characters with unique abilities, is regularly played by tens of millions of players. The number of concurrently active users in the game still sometimes hovers around one million. A mobile port would mean another healthy injection for such a huge community.
