Shipments of smartphones with support for 5G networks should reach 550 million this year. Referring to the prediction of the Taiwanese website Digitimes, this was reported by the Gizchina server.

According to analyst firm IDC, 5G smartphones accounted for about 10% of total smartphone production last year, which reached 1,29 billion units. Compared to 2019, this was a decrease of almost 6%.

It's easy to calculate that shipments of smartphones supporting the latest network are estimated to quadruple this year. The key "promo" factor will of course be lowering the prices of 5G smartphones and expanding 5G coverage.

China will continue to be the main stronghold of 5G smartphones. Prior to the start of the Shanghai part of the MWC (Mobile World Congress), the Vice President of Huawei's Wireless Products Department, Gan Bin, revealed that the global deployment of 5G networks has entered a rapid phase, and that the number of 5G device users in China alone will exceed 500 million this year. At the fair, the Chinese technology giant will show a whole range of new products, including new 5G base stations.

Huawei expects the domestic 5G network user growth rate to reach 30% this year, 42,9% next year, 2023% in 56,8, 70,4% the year after, and almost 2025% in 82.
