He did as he promised. Huawei has launched its second foldable phone, the Mate X2. It will appeal mainly to top performance and a camera and displays with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. However, it will carry a very high price tag.
The Mate X2 got an OLED display with a diagonal of 8 inches and a resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels, which is followed by an external screen (also OLED) with a size of 6,45 inches, a resolution of 1160 x 2700 pixels and a pill-shaped hole located on the left. Both displays have a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The device is powered by the Kirin 9000 chipset, which complements 8 GB of operating memory and 256 or 512 GB of expandable internal memory (up to another 256 GB).

The camera is quadruple with a resolution of 50, 16, 12 and 8 MPx, while the first has a RYYB sensor with an aperture of f/1.9 and optical image stabilization, the second has an ultra-wide-angle telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.2, the third is equipped with a telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4 and also OIS and the last one boasts a periscope lens with 10x optical zoom and also has OIS. The phone also has a 100x digital zoom and a 2,5cm macro mode. The front camera has a resolution of 16 MPx, but users can take "super selfie" pictures with the rear cameras when the device is closed - in this mode, the external display acts as a viewfinder.
The equipment includes a fingerprint reader located on the side, stereo speakers, an infrared sensor, NFC, and there is also support for the Bluetooth 5.2 standard or dual-frequency GPS.
The smartphone is software-based Android10 (but should be upgraded to HarmonyOS in April) and the EMUI 11 superstructure, the battery has a capacity of 4500 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 55 W. However, support for wireless charging is missing.
The version with 256 GB of internal memory will be sold for 17 yuan (approximately 999 thousand CZK), the version with 59 GB will be sold for 512 yuan (approximately 2 thousand crowns). For comparison – a flexible phone Samsung Galaxy From Fold 2 can be obtained from us for under 40 CZK. The new product will be available on the Chinese market from February 25. At the moment it is not clear if Huawei is planning an international launch.
