A set of optimization applications Galaxy Labs received a major update to version 2.0.00.9. Existing modules/apps have been updated with new features and Samsung has also released two new apps called Memory Guardian and Thermal Guardian.

Application Galaxy Labs, released by Samsung in 2019, works similarly to Good Lock. It includes various applications/modules that extend the functionality of the One UI user interface. Unlike Good Lock, however Galaxy Labs focuses on optimizing it, not customizing it. It contains four apps in total: Battery Guardian, Battery Tracker, File Guardian and App Booster. Now they have been supplemented by the new Memory Guardian and Thermal Guardian modules.

The first mentioned application was designed to improve memory management and provide more informace regarding memory usage over time. It can be used to individually delete apps from memory and in addition provides a weekly summary of available and system memory and cache usage.

Thermal Guardian is perhaps an even more useful addition than Memory Guardian. This is because it has a 24-hour graph to monitor CPU temperatures, showing hot spots that can be tapped to learn the possible causes. However, probably the best feature of the application is the slider for adjusting the processor temperature threshold, which allows the user to set a lower or higher degree of temperature at which the processor starts throttling. Users can lower the value by a degree or two to let the processor throttle earlier, or they can increase the temperature threshold by up to two degrees to gain additional performance at the expense of higher temperatures.

As for existing apps, the Battery Tracker AI module has been slightly improved visually, and Battery Guardian now offers new power saving tools to limit CPU usage while the user is asleep. The behavior of the screen power saving function has also been improved - it can now be set per application. Finally, since most apps now have their own recycle bin for recovering deleted content, Samsung has ended support for File Guardian. It really isn't as necessary now as it was in the beginning.
