So here it is. What the developers of the giant battle royale PUBG promised, they also fulfilled. On Android will head to the first of a series of mobile games that will follow the success of its bigger brother. Announced today, PUBG: New State, unlike the converted version of regular PUBG, has been developed for mobile phones from the start and should be heading to small screens later this year. So far, the developers have presented the game in a short trailer, which you can watch below.

The newly announced game will take place in the future of a game world already familiar to many. The game takes us to 2051, which means a lot of futuristic equipment and weapons. So while those are realistic weapons from the original game, PUBG: New State gets a lot more creative freedom. In addition, compared to the truncated PUBG Mobile, the new project will offer new game options. Your character will become more agile and have more ways to upgrade your gear.

More broadly, this is Tencent's first step towards massively expanding the world of PUBG in the future. The announcement that the upcoming sci-fi horror film The Callisto Protocol is set in the same world, albeit in a distant future and alien setting, is taken half-seriously. But Tencent wants to explore the television medium in addition to the gaming industry. In the near future, we should expect an animated series. You can play PUBG: New State on Google Play pre-register now.
