When Japan's Sony held its regular State of Play conference on Thursday, where it often announces new game projects heading to Playstation, many expected to see the announcement of the second part of the remake of the cult Final Fantasy VII. Instead, a next-gen port of it and a smaller story expansion were introduced. However, after some disappointment at State of Play, developers from Square Enix have already separately announced two new mobile projects that will take place in the world of the mentioned game.

Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is a Japanese developer's attempt to break into the popular battle royale genre. The game will take place before the story of the remake and from the available trailer it looks very interesting. It looks like it will combine the classic shooter gameplay of similar games with a specific magic system from Final Fantasy. No other official information about the game is available yet, we only know that it will be released sometime this year.

A strange project is the second Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis game introduced. This will be another remake of the cult RPG from the nineties. In the graphic style of the original game, it will recapitulate its events, adding to it the story from various other spin-offs. We basically know even less about Ever Crisis than we do about The First Soldier. The developers released the first trailer and announced that we won't see the game until 2022.

Both games are quite a major surprise for us, somewhat connected to the disappointment that the previously leaked subtitle Ever Crisis does not belong to the second part of the big remake. How do you like the news from the cult world? Share your opinion with us in the discussion below the article.
