The first render of Samsung's next rugged smartphone has hit the airwaves Galaxy Xcover 5. It is possible to conclude from it that the phone will not be a direct successor Galaxy Xcover Pro, as some have speculated so far.

It appears from the render that Galaxy Xcover 5 will be modeled after last year Galaxy Xcover 4s strong display frames, unlike it (and last year's Xcover FieldPro), however, it will not have physical navigation buttons. The picture also shows the centrally placed hole for the front camera.

The phone retains a red button on the side that should function as a dedicated PTT (push-to-talk) button, but unlike the aforementioned Xcover FieldPro, the Xcover Pro does not appear to have an additional emergency button that can be programmed with various functions.

According to previous leaks, the Xcover 5 will get a 5,3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 900 x 1600 pixels, an Exynos 850 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of expandable internal memory, a 16 MP camera, a 5 MP selfie camera, Android 11 with One UI 3.0 superstructure and a removable battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh and support for fast charging with a power of 15 W. In addition, it should have a set of security features Knox, support mPOS functionality that will allow it to function as a payment terminal, and meet IP68 resistance standards and MIL-STD-810G.

It should be available only in black, like the previous models of the series, and will probably be launched in the first half of the year.
