Honor boss George Zhao spoke to Chinese media this week about the challenges facing the now-independent company and plans for the future. Among other things, he said that the new smartphone of the Honor Magic series "will surpass the successes achieved by the Huawei Mate and Huawei P series".

Zhao also said that the split with Huawei was amicable and that a farewell party was held where Honor was blessed by the founder and head of the Chinese tech giant, Zhen Zhengfei.

According to him, Honor is now negotiating with AMD and Intel to supply hardware for its upcoming Honor Magicbook notebooks. During the interview, Zhao also mentioned the creation of new teams, investment in research and development, and moving to new offices.

As for the new Honor Magic, all that is known about it at the moment is that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset. This year, the company has already launched a smartphone Honor V40 5G, which has been a huge success in its home country of China (the first batch sold out in minutes) and is expected to hit the international market soon. However, it was not a flagship in the true sense of the word, this role should be played by the new Honor Magic.

Honor is also expected to launch the Honor V40 Lite, Honor 40S, Honor 40 or Honor X20 phones soon.
