Xiaomi has launched its first flexible phone, and it's not a "jigsaw" model Samsung Galaxy From Flip, as some anecdotal reports had previously suggested. In terms of design, the Mi Mix Fold is a classic folding smartphone, inspired by the series Galaxy Fold. The novelty impresses with a large internal display and also a liquid camera lens, the technology of which it boasts as the first smartphone in the world.

Mi Mix Fold received an 8,01-inch AMOLED flexible panel with a resolution of 1860 x 2480 px, an aspect ratio of 4:3, a maximum brightness of 900 nits and not quite thin frames, which is seconded by an external AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6,52 inches, a resolution of 840 x 2520 px, 27:9 aspect ratio and maximum brightness of 650 nits. The smaller screen, unlike the main one, has a higher refresh rate – 90 Hz. In its upper right part, there is a small circular hole for a selfie camera.

The smartphone folds inward and features a U-shaped hinge that Xiaomi claims is 27% lighter than the hinges used by other flexible phones. Its flexible display should withstand up to a million bends. Unfolded, the device measures 173,3 x 133,4 x 7,6 mm, while folded 173,3 x 69,8 x 17,2 mm.

On the back we find three sensors - the main one with a resolution of 108 MPx (using the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor), an ultra-wide-angle one with a resolution of 13 MPx and a shooting angle of 123° and an 8 MPx telemacro camera with triple optical zoom, which uses a liquid lens for the first time in the world. It can change shape due to electrical impulses, similar to the human eye, and its advantage over traditional lenses is that it can focus at a distance of only 3 cm for macro shots, as well as on distant subjects for close-up shots.

The camera also boasts a proprietary Surge C1 chip (it's a chip that Xiaomi teased a few days ago), which improves autofocus and also helps with automatic exposure and white balance. The camera otherwise supports video recording in up to 8K resolution at 30 fps and the front camera has a resolution of 20 MPx.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, which complements 12 and 16 GB of operating and 256 and 512 GB of internal memory. The equipment includes two pairs of stereo speakers, a fingerprint reader or NFC integrated into the power button. The battery has a capacity of 5020 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 67 W (according to the manufacturer, it charges from zero to 100% in 37 minutes). It takes care of the software running Android 10 with MIUI 12 superstructure.

The new product will be launched on the Chinese market on April 16. The 12/256 GB version will cost 9 yuan (roughly 999 CZK), the 33/800 GB variant 12 yuan (approximately 512 crowns) and the 10/999 GB version (which boasts a ceramic back) will cost 37 yuan ( about 200 thousand CZK). Xiaomi has not mentioned whether the Mi Mix Fold will be available in international markets.
