Samsung currently has the edge over its Chinese rivals when it comes to smartphone camera quality. Galaxy S21Ultra is arguably the best smartphone camera in the world right now. However, brands such as Xiaomi, OnePlus or Oppo are still improving their smartphone cameras, especially by using larger sensors. In addition, some of them are associated with famous professional photography brands. Now, news has hit the airwaves that the Korean tech giant could be partnering with one such brand.
According to the reliable "leaker" Ice universe, this brand is Olympus. Negotiations are said to be underway at the moment, and if the parties come to an agreement, we could see the first fruits of their cooperation next year with the phones of the series Galaxy S22 or later this year with a special version of the upcoming foldable smartphone Galaxy From Fold 3.
if it is informace Ice universe right, Olympus could help Samsung for example with color tuning or image processing, similar to how another famous photography brand Hasselblad helped OnePlus with the new OnePlus 9 flagship series phones.
Let us remind you that Samsung also produced professional cameras in the past, namely mirrorless cameras, within the NX series. It withdrew from the market in 2015 due to a decline in sales of specialized cameras. Everyone who worked on the NX cameras was then supposed to move to the smartphone division.
