Google is planning to shut down an app that many of you have probably never used and may have never even heard of. This is the Google Shopping mobile application, which the American technology giant launched in October last year. The app was intended to serve as a one-stop shop and, among other things, allowed users to compare prices as well as alert users when the product they were looking for went on sale.

The Google Shopping app is about to end soon, a source code analysis of its latest version by XDA-Developers has revealed. The site's editors found code strings in it that mention the word "sunset" and the phrase "shop on the web". The actual end of the application was later confirmed by Google itself through the mouth of its spokesperson, when he declared that "in a few weeks we will stop supporting Shopping". He pointed out that all the functions that the application offered to users are available through the Purchases tab within the Google search engine. The site offers the same functionality shopping.google.com.

And what about you? Have you ever used this app? Or do you rely on the Google search engine or other sites when shopping? Let us know in the comments below the article.
