A week ago we have informed you, that Samsung was supposed to participate in the development of the chipset for the upcoming Google Pixel 6 smartphone. However, the cooperation between Samsung and Google might not end there - according to a new leak, the future Pixel (perhaps the Pixel 6) could use the photo sensor of the South Korean technology giant.

The information that the future Pixel could have a photo sensor from Samsung came from modder UltraM8, who discovered that Google added support for the Bayer filter to its Super Res Zoom algorithm. This filter uses many of Samsung's sensors, and Google's support may mean that the future Pixel (perhaps the "six") will have one of these sensors.

Former Google engineer Marc Levoy hinted last September that the company could upgrade to the new photosensor when modules with lower read noise than the current ones become available. One such candidate could be Samsung's new ISOCELL GN50 2MP photo sensor, which is its largest sensor yet. The sensor has a size of 1/1.12 inches and a pixel size of 1,4 microns. Larger sensors are theoretically capable of capturing better images in lower light conditions and capturing a greater dynamic range of hues and tones.

Another possibility is the 50MPx IMX800 sensor from Sony, but it has not yet been presented (allegedly the upcoming flagship series will use it first Huawei P50).
