Samsung remained the largest manufacturer of smartphone memory last year, while increasing its share of the DRAM and NAND memory markets year-on-year. This was stated by Strategy Analytics in its report.

According to the report, Samsung's share of the global smartphone memory market in 2020 was 49%, up 2% year-on-year. The South Korean company SK Hynix, whose share reached 21%, also finished far behind him. The first three largest manufacturers of smartphone memories are rounded off by the American company Micron Technology with a share of 13%. The global market for smartphone memories grew by 4% year-on-year to 41 billion dollars (just under 892 billion crowns). In the DRAM memory segment, Samsung's market share was 55% last year, which is roughly 7,5% more year-on-year, and in the NAND memory segment, its share reached 42%. In the first mentioned segment, SK Hynix took second place with a share of 24% and Micron Technology third with a share of 20%. In the latter segment, the Japanese company Kioxia Holdings (22%) and SK Hynix (17%) finished behind Samsung.

According to previous analysts' estimates, Samsung's share in the mentioned segments will probably continue to grow in the first two quarters of this year, which should be helped by the increasing price of memory chips. DRAM prices are estimated to increase by 13-18% in the coming months. For NAND memories, the price increase should be lower, between 3-8 percent.
