In recent weeks, reports have been floating around that Samsung will be replacing the variant Galaxy S20 FE (4G) with the Exynos 990 chip for the variant with the Snapdragon 865 chipset. This version also appeared in the Geekbench benchmark. Yesterday, the Korean tech giant quietly launched it.

New variant Galaxy The S20 FE (SM-G780G) has now been listed on Samsung's German website with the "New" label. The phone comes with 128GB of internal memory and six colors – mint, dark blue, red, light purple, white and orange. Apart from the chip, the new version of the extremely popular "budget flagship" does not come with anything new.

The new version will completely replace the one with the Exynos 990 chip. However, apparently this is not because its chipset lags behind Qualcomm's chip in terms of performance and energy efficiency, the reason is the ongoing global shortage of chips. It is possible that Samsung, more precisely its Samsung Electronics division, is now not getting enough Exynos 990 units from Samsung's other division, Samsung LSI, forcing it to completely replace the chip.

Samsung could put the Snapdragon 865 version on sale in all the countries where it launched the Exynos 990 variant, probably at the same price it has been selling it for so far.
