Samsung and Google confirmed this week that the former's future smartwatches will no longer run on Tizen OS, but on a new version of the platform WearOS named WearOS 3, which they develop together. This should bring, for example, a redesigned user interface or greater freedom for third-party manufacturers in system modifications. They will be one of the first watches to use it Galaxy Watch Active 4, which according to the latest leak will be from its predecessor Galaxy Watch Active 2 differ fundamentally both externally and internally.

According to a well-known Ice universe leaker, they won't Galaxy Watch 4 Active to have a 2,5D glass panel covering the circular display, but a 2D flat panel, which raises the question of what will happen to the virtual bezel. The physical (fixed) frame surrounding the active part of the display is said to be narrower, and the body of the watch (including the frame) could be made of titanium alloy.

Samsung has been using the same chipset in all of its smartwatches since 2018 – the Exynos 9110, built on a 10nm manufacturing process. Now apparently the time has come for a change, because according to the leaker there will be Galaxy Watch Active 4 will be powered by an as yet unspecified 5nm chip. This should not only increase the performance of the watch, but also improve its energy efficiency, which could contribute to better battery life per charge. Other upcoming Samsung watches will probably use the same chip Galaxy Watch 4.

At the moment, it is not known when Samsung might introduce the new watch. It is possible that it will be in August, when, according to the latest unofficial information, it will launch new foldable smartphones Galaxy From Fold 3 a Galaxy Z flip 3.
