Samsung sees flexible phones as a key driver for the future growth of its mobile division, and for good reason - it is the clear number one in this segment. That it's betting big on foldable smartphones is evidenced by a new report out of South Korea, which revealed its sales targets for its "puzzle games" for this year.

According to the website THE ELEC, Samsung plans to ship a total of 7 million of its new flexible phones this year, which will likely be Galaxy From Fold 3 a Galaxy From Flip 3.

The smartphone colossus wants to sell 3 million units of the third Fold alone. Without this year's Galaxy Note 21 and with the stylus support and other "goodies" that the Fold 3 is supposed to have, there is a more than decent chance that it will be able to achieve this goal.

The company also expects to ship up to 4 million units to the market Galaxy Z Flip 3, which is also achievable as the Z Flip series phones are sold at a significantly lower price than the Z Fold models.

Samsung shipped 2,5 million foldable smartphones to the global market last year, so the 7 million target is very ambitious indeed. Whether it fulfills it will depend on how these products are received by the market. Some industry analysts in South Korea remain cautious. They point out that even though Samsung planned to deliver 5 million "benders" to the market last year, it finally managed to ship only 2,5 million of them. However, it should be noted that deliveries were largely negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Galaxy From Fold 3 a Galaxy According to the latest unofficial reports, the Flip 3 will be presented in August, older leaks say July.
